A conical thread can be sealed economically with PTFE sealing tape (often called Teflon tape) or sealing flax/sealing hemp. During the processing it must be ensured that no residue of sealing material gets inside the line and thus cause damage to the downstream devices. The sealing tapes differ from each other mainly in their density and their approvals. Sealing tapes with high density / thread sealing fibres require less windings and remain formable. Furthermore they prevent that parts detach during running operation. Sealing flax is mainly used in combination with Fermit sealing paste (neo-Fermit / plastic Fermit) in the sanitary and heating area. Tip: Anaerobic thread seals can save time and nerves!
