Brass compression ring fittings acc. to DIN 1254-2 are mainly used for copper pipes or polyamide pipes. They are not compatible with the cutting ring screw connections (colloquially also called "Ermeto screw connections") widely used in Germany. The obvious difference to the cutting ring screw connections is the symmetrical brass compression ring with double cone used here, that is only clamped onto the pipe instead of cutting into the pipe. In order to ensure a secure clamping during the assembly of PA pipe or thin-walled copper pipe, a reinforcement sleeve must be used. Often in Germany a cutting ring screw connection acc. to DIN EN ISO 8434-1 is used instead of the compression ring screw connection.
